PURPOSE
Founded in 1869 under the name of “Chambre Syndicale des Grains, Fourrages et Issues”, the Syndicat de Paris du Commerce et des Industries des Grains, Produits du Sol et Dérivés aims to harmonize the rules and commercial practices in force in the related professions rattached to trade of cereals and soil products in order to facilitate transactions and to reduce the sources of disputes between buyers and sellers.
MEmBers
The Syndicat de Paris brings together both French and foreign companies and professional associations interested in any capacity whatsover in the trade or industry of grains, soil products and derivatives. This wide and varied representation gives it complete independence with regard to any categorical or particular interest that may arise.
ACHIEVEMENTS
The Syndicat de Paris establishes and distributes standard purchase and sale contracts forms adapted to the international trade of agricultural commodities which are characterized by a balance between the interests of buyers and the interests of sellers. These documents, known as the “INCOGRAIN (ex Paris Formulas)” are periodically revised to take into account changes in trade practices and usage, as well as arbitration decisions.
The Syndicat de Paris also provides the “secretariat” for French trade Codes of Practices such as the “French Rules and Usages for the Trade in Grains, Oilseeds and Protein seeds, Pulses, Soil Products and Derivatives” known as “RUFRA” as well as the “Rules and Practices for Dried Pulses Trade” known as “RULEGS”.
In order to make more reliable commercial transactions between its members, the Syndicat de Paris also sets standards, participates in the development of analysis methods and approved reliable service providers able to secure the execution of commercial operations.

MEANS
For creation or adaptation of Contract Forms, Rules and Practices Codes and technical addenda, the Syndicat de Paris gathers periodically some contract commissions or technical commissions in which all the interested operators are represented (buyers, sellers, traders, grain collectors, exporters, brokers, freight forwarders, industrials, carriers, labs, inspection companies etc.). When the question examined so requires, experts (lawyers, agronomists, professors, etc.) are invited.
MORE INFORMATIONS
The aim of these commissions is to reach a consensus on contractual marketing rules, so that operators can refer to them during their trade transactions.
The action of the Syndicat de Paris is based on the one hand, at the technical level, on the BIPEA (International Bureau of Analytical Studies) which ensures the selection and control of laboratories, on behalf of the Syndicat de Paris, anable to carry out the product analyzes required by contractual documents and, on the other hand, at the jurisdictional level, on the International Arbitration Chamber Of Paris to which any dispute between operators can be referred.
The Syndicat de Paris thus constitutes both a forum for discussion and extended proposals widely open to all those who have authority and expertise in the field of soil products in France and in Europe.
ANALYZES
The SYNDICAT DE PARIS makes carry out, by referenced laboratories, analyzes (or counter-analyzes) of samples of agricultural products in accordance with standard sales contracts, such as INCOGRAIN contracts or Codes of practice.
